An opportunity for young scientists

To honour the contribution of Dr. Graziella Persico in supporting young generations of scientists, a Travel Award has been established to help one PhD student per year to participate in an international meeting. The 2016 award will consist of up to 1000 euros (tax included) to contribute registration, accommodation and travel costs to attend a scientific meeting. Applicants should be  PhD students (under 30 years of age), who work in Life Science. The application form is online at http://bit.ly/gpaward2016 (deadline April 15th 2016).
The winner will be invited to give a short talk on the day of the Graziella Persico Lecture that will be held on May 19th, 2016 at the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medecine, Auditorium "Vesuvius", Pozzuoli (NA).

Graziella Persico (1950-2007) has made outstanding contributions to science, ranging from human genetics to cancer biology. She was also an impressive manager and organizer, being capable of initiating one of the largest projects on isolated populations in Italy. Graziella Persico trained many scientists and she was unforgiving in the adherence to rigorous scientific criteria but, at the same time, she was capable of transmitting a profound sense of human empathy.
