7th Graziella Persico Lecture and Travel Award

On May 19th 2016 at TIGEM (Naples)

Graziella Persico (1950-2007) was an extraordinary woman and a superb scientist. She has made outstanding contributions to science, ranging from human genetics to cancer biology. To honor her contribution to scientific research and training of young scientists, a Graziella Persico Lecture ad Travel Award" series has been established. The “Graziella Persico Lecture" series is mainly addressed to young scientists to promote their learning about the most recent progress of the research in the genetic field. It will also serve to all of Graziella’s many friends and colleagues to have a chance, once a year, to think of her and to underscore the values that she believed in. The initiative includes the awarding to a PhD student of a travel grant for the participation to a European scientific meeting. This project is supported by the Institute of Genetics and Biophysics “ABT”, CNR and the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine (TIGEM).

The 7th Graziella Persico Lecture will be held on May 19th at the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine “Auditorium “Vesuvius“, Via Campi Flegrei 34 – 80078 Pozzuoli (Naples) Italy. The speaker of this year will be Prof. Han Brunner (Radboud UMC and Maastricht University Medical Center, The Netherlands) that will give a seminar titled “Genetics changes medicine”. In this occasion, the winner of the Graziella Persico Travel Award will  give a short presentation just before the Lecture.
